Who’s Listening

I once had a boss who answered every complaint with the words – ‘I hear what you say’. This was code for him doing nothing about it. As a result, I began to think of ‘listening’ was a very inactive verb.

Yet it need not be so. For, to many in trouble, finding a listening ear is often a lifebelt. Since particularly those in abusive relationships feel there is no they can off-load to. In fact, we all know the glimmer of hope when we turn to someone who will truly listen.

So, today let’s listen and listen again. Because that could be the biggest gift we have to offer in an increasingly deaf world.
