DOES GOD TRAVEL?
|by Lily Cathcart|
When Jesus was on the earth he did a fair amount of walking. I have to wonder; as a man he did what humans do to get to a place, but as God did he feel the very foundation of the earth as he did so? Was each grain of sand or blade of grass telling him its life story as it brushed under his sandals?
Does God travel? God who is omnipresent surely doesn’t need to?
But I know with all my heart that the Spirit is with every traveller today.
With a refugee clutching to the edge of their tiny forsaken boat. The spirit is feeling every rapid heartbeat, wailing at every death which goes unmarked except for a temporary gravestone in the form of a wave.
The spirit also sits alongside those who travel First Class and rides with those who charter private jets. With them in their struggles and excitement and boredom, skimming the earth and sailing over the gravestones and the waves.
Does God travel? Everything travels and everything rests, and God is with everything.
Thank you for traveling with us.
Sorry that we do not care for all travellers as we should.
Open our eyes to every journey and not just to our own.
Let us be your arms and hearts,
caring for everyone and everything that travels across our world.

4 ‘Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
8 ‘Or who shut in the sea with doors
