Broken for renewal

Broken for renewal
Towards the end of the recent TV drama ‘Broken’, the pressures on Father Michael are so great with the loss of people he cared for and a sense that he has let so many people down. He feels unworthy to be a priest and resolves to ‘pack it in.’ In the end, he receives assurances from those he believes he has failed. He is a ‘wonderful priest’ in their eyes and there is hope he will continue to be so.

Father, we thank you, that even though broken, we can be renewed in the power of your Spirit.

We thank you that your Spirit works through your people to enable us to believe once again in your love and your good purpose in our lives.

Help us all to wish the best for one another, to express our appreciation of one another to live lives of mutual encouragement.

2 Corinthians 4: 7-12
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
